SCULPTURE

With the possible exception of pottery tomb figures, the flourishing of Chinese sculptural art bears an intrinsic link to the advance of Buddhism. It is under the influence of Buddhism that the most impressive examples of Chinese sculpture were made, such as the monumental stone figures of the Yungang and Longmen caves and the exquisite gilt-bronze figures of the Six Dynasties.
