Chinese ceramics, metalwork and lacquer from the 12th to the 14th century
An exhibition featuring twelve select objects from the twelfth to the fourteenth century in a wide range of materials including ceramics, lacquer and gold. Ceramic highlights encompass examples from classical kilns active during the Song, Yuan and Jin periods, such as Yaozhou celadons, Ding white wares, Jun wares and a Jian tea bowl from Fujian province. The diversity of the material – in shapes and glazes – reflects the richness of the Chinese ceramic tradition from both northern and southern regions. This is complemented in the exhibition by lacquer vessels and an important gold drinking cup from the same timeframe.
