    This monumental painting depicts the famous Taihu rock of the Shaoyuan Garden, now in the Sackler Museum, Peking University. Highly revered in Chinese art and philosophy, rocks are viewed as embodiments of the spirit and lifeforce of the universe. Through his exacting eye and meticulous brushwork, Liu Dan has made contemporary a traditional literati theme.
