    5. Painted Earthenware Sleeping Youth

Northern Wei period, early 6th century
    Height: 10.0cm

Painted grey earthenware hollow model of a sleeping youth. The figure sits with knees drawn up, his left arm laid across them to cradle his slumped head, his right arm raised to his shoulder. His facial features are hidden by his bowed head and mop of curly hair. He wears a belted tunic and baggy trousers tucked into knee-length boots. The figure is mostly covered with red pigment, with touches of white.
