19. Pair of Huanghuali Weiqi Counter Boxes and Covers (weiqizihe)

Pairs of such weiqi counter boxes are rare and these were in the collection of The Museum of Classical Chinese Furniture, Renaissance, California until 1996. Both are carved from the same piece of wood, which is beautifully figured, evoking fantastical mountain landscapes and the patina is a rich golden-brown tone.
