Biography
1941 Born in Beppu, Oita
1960 Graduated from Beppu Tsurumigaoka Prefectural High School
1960 Studied under his father Yufu Chikuryu
Certified as First Class Skilled Technician, and as a Traditional Craftsman by The Association for the Promotion of Traditional Craft Industries.
Councillor at Beppu Take Kyokai (Beppu Bamboo Products Cooperative)
Known as a specialist of “Yatara-Ami (Random Knitting)”, a traditional plaiting technique, and now focuses on training younger generations of this technique.
